Saddam Hussein - My first caricature for 'KITS'
The beginning of the Gulf War was also the beginning of my long-term collaboration with publisher 'De Eenhoorn'. Founder and editor-in-chief Geert De Kockere had just started the 'Flemish independent children's newspaper KITS' and contacted me to draw this cartoon for their first issue.
The intention of KITS was to convey national and world news to children in a clear way.
A year later they also started KLAP with news for even younger children.
Saddam shocked the world. He had just invaded Kuwait. The Gulf War was a fact.
... and just then the Flemish children's newspaper KITS started. Volume 1, number 1 immediately brought big news - and a suitable cartoon.
It was the beginning of our long-lasting, fruitful collaboration...
